Walmart Management Training Program
I just got hired as an assistant manager trainee pending my drug screen and background. In the mean time, I have a few questions if anyone out there can help me.
Has anyone been through the training? How long is it and what is it like? Is the training store going to be close to me or do I travel out of state? What is the dress code? Is there hotel and meal comp while training? Do we go through regular orientation or is it different? I know I could just wait, but I am trying to get my mind right and get my stuff together.
Thanks for your help! Training class is six weeks. You may spend a limited amount of time in your store prior to the beginning of training depending on when your class starts. You should attend orientation with other new hire associates for your store. The training program is a mix of class time and time spent in store. Expect roughly a 40/60 ratio. Classes are held regionally so there is a chance you may need to travel several hours to the training location, depending on where the program is located in relation to your store.
You will be expected to follow walmart management dress code while in the training program. There will be a hotel provided for you if your travel warrants one. If you are staying in a hotel, there is a meal allowance. We've been being told for several months that the dress code will be changing.
When it does, we are told collared, tucked-in solid white or solid navy blue dress shirts with tan or black dress pants. Dress shoes and a belt are also required. Dresses have historically been acceptable for women. A tie is required by some leadership but is not part of the corporate dress code. While the current dress code is slightly more lenient, if you are purchasing clothing I would stick with those colors. Where is your store, if I may ask?
Hey, I was wondering if you are still an Assistant Manager for Walmart and if so could you give me some advice? I am considering applying for the Assistant Manager Trainee job. Was training helpful and was it at the store you were going to be working? What are you liking about the job, what are you not liking about it? How long to you have to stay in the position before you apply for something else within the company?

Does Walmart still do the morning cheer and who is in charge of that? Have you been fortunate enough to lead the cheer? Thanks for your time.
